According to a news release from the sheriff’s office on Thursday, Kristen McAllister, a teacher at Tabb High School, was detained after the sheriff’s office received a report of an inappropriate relationship between a teacher and pupil.

McAllister, 32, faces two felony counts of indecent liberties with a kid by a person in custody or supervisory connection, as well as two misdemeanor counts of contributing to a minor’s delinquency.

Tabb High School and York County school division administrators were notified Wednesday night of “an accusation of unprofessional conduct by a school employee involving a juvenile,” according to a message sent to Tabb High families by York County school division superintendent Victor Shandor. The claim was immediately turned over to law authorities, according to Shandor.

“Our hiring procedures involve mandatory and thorough background checks and fingerprint clearance,” Shandor said in the statement. “We expect that our staff conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times, and any time there is a question of safety or misconduct, we immediately investigate.”

According to the sheriff’s office, an investigation is ongoing. Officials from the sheriff’s office have identified one “victim of crimes that occurred in the later half of 2021,” according to the announcement.

In Tabb High School’s online employee directory, McAllister is identified as an English teacher. Shandor said she won’t be permitted on school district premises while the inquiry is continuing.

On November 14, a former Canyon Lake High School teacher was detained on suspicion of having improper contact with a 15-year-old pupil.

According to court records, 38-year-old Devon Hooper was charged with improper relationship between educator and student and lodged in Comal County Jail before being released the same day.

Detectives with the Comal County Sheriff’s Office became aware of the accusations in October as a result of a police report from the victim’s parents.

According to reports, Hooper for at least a month sent the victim obscene messages and photos.

According to a criminal complaint, “there were several mentions of sexual actions, meeting outside of school, and touching.” Hooper allegedly gave the victim pictures of herself in her underwear as well.

According to reports, Hooper also taught the victim this year, as well as the year before.

Hooper resigned before being detained, according to Canyon Lake High School Principal Mark Oberholtzer, and the administration held off notifying parents of the charges until after the inquiry was over.

According to the criminal complaint, “Several texts viewed demonstrated that Devon was aware that her acts were prohibited and that she may be fired and even arrested for her actions with (the boy).”

Hooper allegedly admitted to the conversations and gave a statement to school officials in an effort to shed light on the relationship, according to Comal County Sheriff’s officers.

Hooper is wed to Brian Hooper another employee of Canyon Lake High School.

Emily Anderson, Canyon High School special education teacher pleads guilty after sexually assaulting a student in a class closet

Published

on

After confessing to having sex with a pupil in a classroom closet, a special education inclusion support teacher pled guilty to charges of sexual assault of a minor and improper contact between an educator and student.

In August 2021, Emily Anderson, 35, was detained and accused of sexually assaulting a minor, a second-degree felony. In December 2021, she was detained once more and accused of having inappropriate contact between a teacher and a pupil.

Records show that Anderson acknowledged having intercourse with the victim at Canyon High School in New Braunfels in a closet in a biology class.

As part of her plea agreement, Anderson will now be compelled to register as a sex offender. Over the next ten years, she must additionally complete a total of 60 days in jail time while also being on probation.

In addition to getting a lifetime protective order preventing contact with the victim, Anderson has been ordered to pay a $2,000 fine and perform 500 hours of community service.

After Anderson admitted guilt, the judge in the case gave the victim’s mother the opportunity to speak.

The victim’s mother talked about “the pain she feels seeing her son suffer from depression and anxiety. She said that an ‘ideal punishment’ would be for Anderson to see her own children endure that pain.”

The mother initially contacted the New Braunfels police after discovering graphic texts on her son’s phone that were positively identified as coming from Anderson.

The texts contained information on a sexual encounter Anderson had with the victim in May of that year, according to the police affidavit from Anderson’s initial arrest in August 2021.

The mother testified in court, “When I saw those messages — when I went through that phone, my (instinct) was to go and get you out of that school and deal with you myself”

Anderson was placed on leave after her first arrest and Canyon High School Principal Dustin Davisson sent a letter to parents saying, “I know that it can be quite disturbing to learn that one of our teachers was charged with a crime such as this.”
