A teacher from the Killeen Independent School District (KISD) has been arrested and charged with injury to a child. Nichole Riley, who had been employed by the district since 2021 as a resource teacher, was let go on April 13, just one day after the alleged incident took place at Eastern Hills Middle School. The KISD Chief Communications Officer, Taina Maya, confirmed the details of the arrest.
The child’s mother reported that Riley had choked her daughter, prompting swift action from the school authorities. Following the investigation, Riley was booked into the Bell County Jail on April 28, as confirmed by jail records. However, she has since been released on bond. The case has now been handed over to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office for further proceedings.
Principal Nino Etienne has been actively engaged with the child’s parent, maintaining constant communication to address their concerns. In an effort to support the student during this difficult time, counselors are working closely with her to ensure a smooth transition back into the school environment, according to Taina Maya.
Riley’s professional background reveals that she began her teaching career in the Temple Independent School District back in 2000. She later served as an Assistant Principal in Temple ISD for nearly ten years, starting in 2013. However, specific details regarding the schools where she worked were not indicated on her LinkedIn page. A spokesperson from the Temple ISD confirmed that Riley was employed in the district from August 2020 to June 2021.
The arrest of Nichole Riley by Killeen Police Officers on April 28th resulted in her being charged with Injury to a Child. She subsequently posted a $50,000 bond on April 30th, leading to her release from the Bell County Jail.
