Joseph Gutowski, 40, is being held on a $250,000 cash-only bond in connection with sexual exploitation of a minor, possession of child pornography, and second-degree promoting child pornography.
According to authorities and the probable cause statement, Gutowski worked as a teacher at Lafayette High School in the Rockwood School District between 2017 and 2020. The statement claims that the 16-year-old victim was a student. The victim was allegedly seen on camera performing a sexual act after Gutowski allegedly set up a video recording device. Gutowski reportedly acknowledged sending the footage to other people electronically, according to the police.
On December 15, Rockwood officials fired Gutowski, a teacher at Lafayette High School in Wildwood at the time of the alleged event. His contract was terminated that evening in a closed session by the Board of Education, according to the district.
Before that vote, the board voted overwhelmingly to reject Gutowski’s resignation, according to Rockwood authorities.
