Following allegations that she had sexually assaulted a kid, a teacher in Iroquois County was detained and charged.
On September 30, Watseka resident Stephanie L. Harmon, 32, was taken into custody and charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault. After being detained, she was brought to the Iroquois County Jail.
The Watseka Police Department’s month-long investigation led to the arrest. Officers claimed they had information that a teacher was involved romantically with a student; as part of their investigation, they questioned both Harmon and the student. She confirmed the allegations to the police.
Since the alleged sexual assault occurred in Harmon’s residence, the Watseka Police Department conducted the investigation. According to officials, the incident did not take place on school property.
Officials said that the student’s age and Harmon’s position of trust and authority were factors in the case of aggravated criminal sexual assault.
