Hunter Carlis, Ayer Elementary School 5th grade teacher arrested, found with child pornography

A teacher from Fresno Unified School District has been detained after police claim they discovered child pornography on him.

When they were directed to a house close to the 6300 block of N. Prospect Ave., detectives with the Central California Internet Crimes Against Children were investigating the distribution of explicit internet content.

There, they discovered Hunter Carlis, age 30, who had served as a substitute instructor from September 2020 to August 2021. According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, he was subsequently employed to teach fifth grade at Ayer Elementary School to this day.

Investigators claim that while searching his residence on Thursday, they discovered numerous images of young children in their underwear on his electronic devices.

Although there have not yet been any allegations, the sheriff’s office believes there may have been inappropriate touching of pupils.

Carlis was arrested on multiple CSAM charges and taken to the Fresno County Jail. He has a $20,000 bail.
