Trae Owens, Hoover Middle School teacher arrested on suspicion of committing felony sex crimes involving a minor

According to authorities, a middle school teacher in San Jose has been detained on suspicion of having inappropriate online sexual communications with a 14-year-old pupil at a nearby high school.

According to authorities, 29-year-old Trae Devonte Owens, who lives in Hollister and works at Hoover Middle School in San Jose, reportedly made inappropriate online contact with a female student at Lincoln High School for three weeks.

Police said that around that time, Owens allegedly made plans to pick up the girl and solicited her for obscene pictures. At least once picked up the girl and drove her to school.

Officers were aware of the incident last Friday and sought an arrest warrant for Owens, who was later apprehended in the city of Hollister on Sunday. According to officers, he was placed in the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
