A former Memphis-Shelby County Schools teacher has been charged with multiple counts of sexually exploiting a juvenile and is currently being held on a $10 million bond.
Records indicate Joseph Blodgett was charged with extortion, sexual exploitation of minors, soliciting sexual exploitation of minors, and extremely aggravated sexual exploitation of a juvenile.
The court date for Blodgett is September 27.
Documents reveal that Blodgett encouraged a youngster to participate in sexual conduct on purpose and had more than 100 items that depict a child having sex.
Before his job terminated in May 2022, Blodgett taught at Oakhaven Middle and Wells Station Elementary, the school district stated in a statement on Thursday.
