Following allegations that he had sexually assaulted a female pupil, a high school teacher in Kentucky was detained on Monday.
James P. Larson, a teacher at Hopkins County Central High School, is accused of first-degree sexual abuse, according to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a news release from the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called after the Hopkins County Board of Education inquired about the alleged infraction, which was reportedly committed at the high school on August 17.
According to the sheriff’s office, Larson was taken into custody on Monday at the Hopkins County Board of Education in Madisonville with the help of Madisonville police officers after investigators “established probable cause.”
The Hopkins County Jail housed Larson, and the sheriff’s office said it is looking into the abuse claim.
