A teacher was detained by Cumberland County authorities on suspicion of child pornography.

According to the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office, Nicholas L. Brozina, 44, of Stow Creek Township, “inappropriately photographed” a kid without that child’s consent and also had other photographs that appeared to be child pornography.

Although the victim was not a student in the Salem County Special Services School District, where Brozina worked as a teacher, the prosecutor’s office recognized this.

On Tuesday, a district representative confirmed that Brozina is not actively employed with the organization.

A tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about the possible uploading of child pornography on the internet kicked off the three-week inquiry. The prosecutor’s office claims that the investigation brought detectives to Brozina.

He was taken into custody on Monday and is now facing charges of third-degree possession of child pornography, fourth-degree invasion of privacy, and two instances of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Following his arrest, Brozina was booked into the Cumberland County Jail.

When called Tuesday afternoon, Jeffrey Hark, his attorney, opted not to respond to the accusations.

On Brozina’s position in the district, school officials claimed they were unable to go into further detail.

In a follow-up statement, district officials claimed that the board of education and members of the administration have been collaborating with the investigating law enforcement agencies and have done all necessary to protect and secure kids.

“For various reasons, we have been asked by those agencies to refrain from making public comments until their on-going investigations are completed. As always, our primary focus is on the safety and welfare of all our students.”

The prosecutor’s office noted that district officials have been “fully cooperative” during the investigation.
