A teacher at a school in northeastern Nebraska was detained in Sioux City on suspicion of prostitution of a child.
The FBI reportedly informed the Sioux City Police Department that Andrew Heller, 36, of Sergeant Bluff, was attempting to coerce a 14-year-old into engaging in sexual activity, according to court filings. According to the FBI, they had tracked communications in which Heller allegedly asked for $200 to have sex with the teen.
When authorities arrested Heller, they discovered wine intended for the teenager, an unopened box of condoms, and more than $200 in cash.
According to the records, Heller acknowledged approaching the girl with the intention of buying sex.
Wynot Public Schools is Heller’s employer. He is listed as a social studies instructor on the school website.
One count of prostitution and one count of luring a juvenile under 16 for sexual purposes led to Heller’s arrest. On a $5,000 bond, he was lodged in the Woodbury County Jail. On July 25, Heller is due to show up in court for a preliminary hearing.
