A Wilmington teacher is detained by police in New Castle County on suspicion of sexually abusing a 15-year-old pupil.
According to investigators, the student disclosed a sexual relationship with “Mr. James” on July 11.
James Garfield, a teacher at the High Road School in Delaware, was recognized by detectives as the man.
According to officials, a search warrant was carried out at Garfield’s home on Friday. He was detained and is now facing multiple charges, including two counts of felony rape.
On a $200,000 bail, he is currently being imprisoned at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution.
