According to the Timberlane School District, a teacher at Timberlane Regional Middle School was detained by Nashua police on Tuesday following an investigation into the internet sexual exploitation of children.
According to Nashua police, Christopher Gempp, 36, of Derry, has been charged with attempted felonious sexual assault and banned the use of computer services.
Technology is taught by Gempp at Timberlane Regional Middle School. When the district learned of the arrest, he was immediately relieved of his duties and placed on leave, said to Superintendent Earl Metzler.
The Nashua Special Investigations Division conducted an investigation in April 2020 to find people who were contacting children online, according to Nashua police.
Gempp was discovered talking to someone he believed to be a minor during that probe, according to the police.
Prior to Tuesday’s arrest of Gempp, the Timberlane School District was unaware of the investigation, according to Metzler.
The district is not aware of any instances involving pupils since Gempp’s hiring in 2017, according to Metzler.
According to Metzler, the district is assisting the local police department and the New Hampshire Department of Education with the investigation.
The Hillsborough County Superior Court – South in Nashua is where Gempp will be arraigned on Thursday. He is currently being jailed on a $5,000 cash or surety bail.
The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which works to stop child exploitation in New Hampshire, has the Nashua Police Department as an affiliate.
