Albert Pavon, Erwin High School teacher arrested for child sexual offenses

An August hearing is scheduled for a teacher at Erwin High School who has been suspended and is accused of five sexual offenses against a pupil. The teacher has posted bail.

The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit accused married with one child 35-year-old Albert Pavon of engaging in lewd behavior with a minor, engaging in lewd behavior with a student, and distributing lewd content to a kid under the age of 16.

According to Stacia Harris, a representative for Buncombe County Schools, Pavon was hired on August 10, 2020.

On June 28, after spending time in the Buncombe County Detention Center, Pavon posted a $50,000 bond.

His next court appearance is scheduled on August 30 in Buncombe County Court, according to Michael John Macht, who declined to make any other comments about Pavon’s case.

According to a BCSO press release from June 24, Buncombe County Schools helped with the investigation while the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office cooperated in carrying out a search warrant at Pavon’s home in Haywood County.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are possible, according to the Sheriff’s Office news statement.
