A Warren County Public Schools employee was detained and placed on leave after being accused of sexually abusing at least one juvenile, according to the allegations.
A mom of a juvenile alerted police on June 15 that a school administrator at her son’s school had been sending him improper communications, according to a citation from the Bowling Green Police Department. This prompted police to start looking into the situation.
According to the citation, the school employee was identified as Rachel L. Smith, 41, of Bowling Green. According to the authorities, an investigation found that Smith had contacted a different 13-year-old via internet means and extended an invitation to visit her home.
The citation stated that when detectives arrived, the youngster told them that Smith had inappropriately interacted with him. According to BGPD, Smith confessed to kissing the child at her home when she was found and questioned on June 17.
According to the authorities, Smith is accused of having repeated conversations with the young minor about her desire to engage in sexual activity with him. BGPD added that it is believed that several young people had sexually explicit internet conversations with Smith.
On Tuesday, June 21, Smith was taken into custody and charged with a first-time criminal sex act with a kid, sexual abuse in the first degree, and procuring or promoting the use of a minor through electronic means.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected.
