A Higley High School teacher has been charged with having improper interactions with kids.
Gilbert police arrested Aaron Dunton, 35, on Thursday after a former student made claims against him while he was teaching at Power Ranch Elementary School.
The student was 11 years old when Dunton reportedly committed crimes against the kid in 2019, according to Gilbert police.
Dunton resigned from Highley High in April after further allegations that he had been involved in an inappropriate relationship with another 14-year-old student.
Four counts of aggravated assault, one act of witness tampering, and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor have been filed against Dunton. He was arrested and taken to the Maricopa County Jail.
After five years of teaching at Power Ranch Elementary, the teacher began working at Highley High in July 2021.
Dunton was also a volunteer softball coach and assistant football coach, according to the Higley Unified School District.
“We are extremely disappointed and troubled by this news. Please know that we take all allegations of employee misconduct very seriously and providing a safe learning environment is always a top priority for our district,” the district wrote in a statement.
