Peter Colombo, physical education teacher at Greene Middle School arrested for sexually assaulting a 6th grader

According to the Palo Alto Police Department, a Palo Alto teacher was arrested for sexually assaulting a minor 21 years ago. On Wednesday afternoon, Redwood City resident Peter Michael Colombo, 55, was detained.

The Palo Alto Unified School District called the Palo Alto Police Department in January after obtaining information that Colombo had sexually abused an 11-year-old female pupil in 2001, according to PAPD. Colombo was a physical education teacher at Greene Middle School before being placed on administrative leave as PAPD investigated.

The victim had been sexually abused in the locker area at Greene, which was then known as Jordan Middle School, according to PAPD. According to authorities, the assault happened during lunchtime. The PAPD did not disclose any other information on the assault.

Colombo was charged with felony aggravated sexual abuse of a minor after detectives reported their findings to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office. According to authorities, Colombo surrendered to them on Wednesday.
