Julie Hoover, Point of Grace math teacher charged with soliciting sex from a student

Julie Hoover, has been charged with soliciting sex via text message with an 18-year-old senior student at Point of Grace where she works as a math teacher.

According to police investigation reports in the case, Julie Hoover, 38, is a teacher at Point of Grace Christian School in Perry.

The student’s mother alerted the sheriff’s office on June 2 after discovering explicit messages between the teen and Hoover, according to records. According to court filings, the mother also informed authorities that Hoover was planning to sneak the student into her home while her husband was at work.

The text conversations were sent in March and April 2022, according to investigators, and the student was enrolled in multiple classes taught by Hoover at the time.

On June 8, Hoover was charged with one count of an authority figure soliciting or engaging in sexual activity with a student. Her bond was set at $15,000 and she was released the next day.
