LRod Jara, Redlands East Valley High School Teacher Arrested for Texting Student with Intent to Commit a Sex Crime

According to officials, a Redlands East Valley High School teacher was detained Thursday on suspicion of sending inappropriate text messages to a kid with the goal of committing a sex offense.

According to a Sheriff’s Department news release, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Crimes Against Children unit began investigating LRod Jara on April 22 for an inappropriate relationship with a pupil.

During the investigation, Jara, a 49-year-old Mentone resident, was placed on administrative leave from the Colton, Redlands, Yucaipa Regional Occupational Program (CRY-ROP).

Jara was detained on charges of contacting a kid with the purpose to commit a sex crime on Thursday, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Jara had sent the minor inappropriate text messages, according to investigators.

He was booked and later released on a $50,000 bond.
