According to authorities, a Queens teacher was arrested on Friday for groping one student at his high school and sexting with another.
Shannon Hall, 31, was charged with sexual abuse, forceful touching, aggravated harassment, and endangering the welfare of a child, according to police.
According to police and criminal documents, Hall texted a 14-year-old student at Jamaica Gateway to the Sciences High School on Gothic Drive on May 24, saying, “I want to be with you.”
Prosecutors said the teen had previously texted Hall on his smartphone. It showed as “Mr. Hall” when the teacher texted her.
The next day at school, the adolescent inquired about Hall’s text. Prosecutors said he apologized and claimed he was inebriated.
The alleged sexting, however, did not end there. Prosecutors said Hall sent “several text messages” over the next week indicating his desire to kiss, grope, and have sex with the pupil. According to court documents, he allegedly stated that he wanted to “go on the beach with her” and “smoke with her.”
“If she showed anyone the texts, she would be dead,” he said, according to the criminal complaint.
Hall also expressed his jealousy of the teen’s boyfriend, telling her to watch out for him “the way he watches out for her.”
Hall apologized for the sexually explicit communications again on May 31, stating that he was drunk when he sent them, according to prosecutors.
When the adolescent informed someone at the school about the texts, school administrators and police initiated an investigation, according to police sources.
Simultaneously, claims circulated that Hall had caressed the breasts of another female student.
Hall has been “reassigned away from the school and pupils pending the outcome of the arrest,” according to a spokesman for the Department of Education.
“We will pursue his firing if he is convicted,” spokeswoman Jenna Lyle said. “This behavior is completely unacceptable and will be fully investigated.”
