Authorities are investigating a 28-year-old teacher from Midwest City, Oklahoma after she allegedly emailed a 16-year-old pupil naked images and an improper video of herself.
Ivy Reneau, a teacher at Midwest City Middle School, has an arrest warrant out for her. Reneau met the kid during soccer practice and “heard reports that he liked her and wanted to see her run,” according to court filings.
Reneau was a middle school soccer coach, and the youngster was a senior. On the same field, the middle school and high school soccer teams practiced.
According to the court filings, Reneau subsequently added the teen to his Snapchat account.
According to the records, the investigation began after a staff member overheard the adolescent informing his pals that “he had been sent nude images by a teacher.” The incident was reported to the school administration by the faculty member.
Reneau allegedly texted the teen “a photograph of herself topless” and another one of her “standing in front of the mirror sideways” with no clothing on, according to court filings. She is also accused of sending an offensive video.
The student allegedly threatened the teacher after the photos were provided, saying “he might ruin her career over the pictures.” He said to have instructed the teacher to send him money using CashApp. According to court filings, she sent him $120.
Reneau allegedly told police that “she understood it was improper to do this with a student, but she thought he was 18 years old,” according to court records. She denied having ever had a sexual interaction with the adolescent.
The Midwest City School District said in a statement that it is cooperating with the investigation.
“District officials were notified of an alleged relationship between a Mid-Del staff member and a student,” the statement reads. “We reported the information to law enforcement so that they could begin an investigation. The staff member is no longer employed by Mid-Del Schools, and we have worked closely with the family of the student in the wake of this accusation. We will continue to fully cooperate with the authorities.”
Reneau has not yet been apprehended. She is charged with one felony count of using technology to communicate with a minor for the purpose of sexual or prurient desire. She has not yet filed a plea in the case, and it’s unknown whether she has hired an attorney to represent her.
