Authorities charged a Southmoore High School teacher with encouraging sexual activity with children, prompting a parent to speak out.
“All I know is that she was improper with other students, and my child was in her class,” the parent, who requested anonymity, said.
The parent said she was never alerted by the school after the former Southmoore High School teacher was charged. Last year, her son was in the teacher’s class.
“She had some inappropriate comments with him,” the parent explained, “saying he didn’t have to listen to me when he was at home.”
Renee Fagans, 51, allegedly used Snapchat to communicate communications to kids, according to court filings. Fagans had a group message with two 15-year-old males, according to police.
The first was from her school, and the second was from Duncan.
“It’s terrible to think that someone would prey on a vulnerable student population,” the parent stated.
Fagans also made explicit comments, according to the court filings, including asking the boys to have a physical relationship with her.
“She was a special education teacher who, I believe, taught English but also managed a group of children,” Fagans added.
Moore Public Schools officials said they found out about the activities later that month, informed police, and suspended Fagans from teaching in January. The investigation is being handled by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
