A Miami middle school teacher has been charged with “romantic pursuit” of a former student, according to authorities.
Sean David Loret de Mola, a Glades Middle School teacher, was arrested on a charge of offenses against students by authority people on Wednesday.
Loret de Mola had been conversing with the former pupil on Instagram for the last year, but in the last few months the talks shifted to him pursuing her “in a romantic manner,” according to the police report.
According to the allegation, Loret de Mora then went to the victim’s workplace to “court her,” bringing her a card and chocolates and telling her how lovely she is.
According to the investigation, he reportedly “engaged in chats over Instagram with a friend of the victim in the hopes that the friend would assist him in his love pursuit of the victim.”
The victim, whose age was not disclosed, posted a photo of herself in a bathing suit on Instagram on Saturday, and Loret de Mora messaged her, saying, “thirst trap triggered, well done,” according to the newspaper.
“This behavior on behalf of the defendant scared the victim enough that she went to Glades Middle School to report this matter to administration,” the report said.
Loret de Mora was arrested and his bond was set at $7,500, according to court documents. He was told to remain away from the victim at a court hearing on Thursday.
Loret de Mora has been employed by Miami-Dade County Public Schools since 2016 and has no past disciplinary history, according to officials.
“He will placed on alternate assignment and the District will initiate employment termination procedures,” district officials said in a statement.
