Mohamed Selim, Savage middle school principal attempted to hire a child prostitute

After an undercover sting allegedly caught him attempting to buy sex from a minor, a middle school principal in the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage District is facing felony prostitution charges.

Eagle Ridge Middle School in Savage is led by Mohamed Ali Selim, 38.

Selim allegedly drove to St. Louis Park on Tuesday to hire a 15-year-old girl for sex, according to allegations filed in Hennepin County District Court.

Authorities claim Selim began a text discussion with an undercover officer after responding to a commercial sex advertisement published online by investigators.

According to the charges, Selim wrote to her, saying he’d “love to see” her and asking to meet the same day.

Selim agreed to meet for a half-hour at $250 per hour, $175 for a half-hour, and “more for enhancements,” according to the undercover investigator.

In a recorded phone conversation, Selim allegedly asked what the “session was like” and if it was “full service.” The officer, posing as the child, told Selim, “I’m 15, but it’s not a problem for me if you’re fine with it.”

According to the charges, Selim laughed and said “ok, that’s fine,” and then asked, “so, you’re 15?”

Selim then said she was too young and it wouldn’t work, according to the accusations, but then asked where she was.

Selim admitted that her age “made him incredibly uneasy,” according to the accusations and that he would still come to see her so they could “spend some time together.”

Selim sent a message after hanging up the phone that read: “Please let me know if I can come to meet you right away. Please email me the information.”

Selim was provided the St. Louis Park address that law enforcement was using.

He texted to say he was there, tried to phone, and inquired whether the girl had a “in-call,” a word for a facility where consumers meet prostitutes.

Selim was arrested after driving to a location where he’d been directed to pick up the girl. He was carrying $200 in cash at the moment.

He was “distraught,” according to the accusations, and said his life and career were finished.
