Zobella Brazil Vinik, Tucson school counselor had sex with teen student

A former counselor at Tucson High School is accused of having sex with a teen student.

On May 3, detectives received a report concerning an inappropriate interaction between Zobella Brazil Vinik and a 15-year-old student, according to the Tucson Police Department.

Before arresting Vinik, 29, on Wednesday, May 11, investigators conducted interviews and searched electronic devices, according to the TPD.

Vinik resigned on Thursday, May 5, according to the Tucson Unified School District.

Vinik was not in the Pima County Adult Detention Complex as of Friday. She is accused of having sexual contact with a minor. Anyone with information is encouraged to phone 911 or 88-CRIME.

Vinik’s ex-wife called the police after discovering proof that Vinik was having a relationship with the juvenile, according to the interim charge.

The minor originally denied the allegations but eventually revealed that the amorous relationship began in February 2022.

According to police, their cell phones contained plenty of evidence that they were dating. The child admitted to investigators that they were aware that the relationship was “wrong due to Zobella’s age.”
