Stephen Jaszek, Former Auburn Music Teacher Found Guilty of Raping Fourth-Grade Student During School Hours

Stephen Jaszek, 66, of South Hadley, was a teacher at Julia Bancroft Elementary School in Auburn and was convicted in April 2022 of raping a pupil multiple times in 2009 and 2010.

The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office said Thursday that a court found a former Auburn elementary school teacher guilty of raping a student.

South Hadley resident Stephen Jaszek, 66, was arrested for the first time in 2018. He was found guilty by a mandated reporter of two counts of aggravated rape of a child, two counts of aggravated rape of a child, and one count of aggravated rape of a child under the age of 14.

Jaszek was a teacher at Auburn’s Julia Bancroft Elementary School. Jaszek departed from his role as a music instructor at Auburn Public Schools in 2014, according to a statement. Jaszek was a teacher at Auburn’s Julia Bancroft Elementary School. He was teaching part-time music lessons to third, fourth, and fifth graders at the time of his arrest and court appearances. Jaszek retired from Auburn Public Schools in 2014, according to a statement.

The rapes took place between 2009 and 2010, while the girl victim was in fourth grade, according to prosecutors. The assaults occurred in a classroom.

Jaszek will be sentenced in Worcester Superior Court on May 20.
