David Edward Gregory, Smiths Station High School teacher arrested for taking hidden camera pictures of a female student

After reportedly taking indecent images of a female student during class, a teacher at Smiths Station High School was detained.

Lee County Sheriff’s school resource deputies were notified on Thursday, May 5th, 2022, that a teacher at Smiths Station High School was taking indecent images of a female student during school hours.

SRO deputies contacted the teacher, David Edward Gregory, 60, of Opelika, and based on evidence acquired by detectives, Gregory was charged with one crime of voyeurism in the first degree, a class “C” felony.

Gregory was arrested at the Lee County Detention Center on May 5th and released later that night after posting bond.
