According to Mt. Diablo Unified officials, a public middle school teacher was arrested on suspicion of various felony and misdemeanor offenses relating to inappropriate activities with minors.
Dean Walker, a teacher at Pine Hollow Middle School, was arrested and taken into jail by Concord police on Thursday.
Superintendent Adam Clark said that when district officials learned of student allegations about Walker in March, they quickly initiated an investigation, removing the instructor from the classroom and placing him on administrative leave.
In a letter to parents on Thursday, Clark stated, “The District has already started measures toward permanent separation of the teacher’s contract.”
“Please know that the Mt. Diablo Unified School District will continue to do everything possible to ensure a safe learning environment for all students, and we appreciate law enforcement’s prompt response as well as the students who have supplied information.”
Clark stated that the district is cooperating with law authorities but declined to elaborate on the allegations.
