A Lee County teacher who was fired after being charged with having a sexual relationship with a student pleaded not guilty Tuesday to all charges at her first court appearance since her arrest, according to court officials.
32-year old Courtney Horn pleaded not guilty to rape, sodomy and sexual abuse charges, according to court officials.
She is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year old female student, according to investigators.
Horn was a physical education teacher at Lee County Middle High School. She was arrested April 21, 2022, after Lee County’s superintendent notified law enforcement about a possible incident between Horn and a student. The school system says Horn no longer works for the district.
According to Horn’s arrest warrant, she admitted to investigators to engaging in sexual activity with the student after school at Horn’s house. The arrest warrant says when investigators interviewed the student, she said she was involved in a sexual relationship with Horn.
Horn remains free on bond, but has been ordered to stay away from all school property in Lee County and not to have any contact with any students.
She is due back in Lee District Court for a preliminary hearing on May 10 at 1:30 p.m., according to court officials.
