After two female students came forward with the allegations earlier this month, a Hobbs instructor was arrested and charged with criminal sexual contact of a minor on Wednesday.
Daniel Decker, a Highland Middle School teacher and coach, is accused of inappropriate behavior toward five pupils. The charges were brought to the attention of the school staff, who then notified the Hobbs Police Department. Decker was then approached and agreed to give investigators a voluntary interview.
He was taken into custody on April 20 and is being held at the Lea County Detention Center until his arraignment.
