This week, a Riverside County high school teacher was arrested on suspicion of transmitting sexually explicit images to a male student who was under the age of 18.
According to the county sheriff’s department, Amanda Quinonez, 30, a teacher at Eastvale’s Eleanor Roosevelt High School, was detained Tuesday. After posting $50,000 bond, she was freed from detention on Wednesday.
The district attorney’s office in Riverside County has yet to decide whether or not to press charges in the case. The inquiry is still ongoing, according to Sheriff’s Sgt. Edward Soto.
According to a statement addressed to parents, once the school became aware of a possible “inappropriate interaction,” it quickly alerted law authorities.
The Corona-Norco Unified School District, according to Principal Greg Anderson, has “zero tolerance for any activity that endangers our pupils.”
Quinonez began teaching language arts at the school in 2016. She also coached water polo and swimming for both boys and girls. According to a representative for Eleanor Roosevelt High School, she was solely listed as a girls water polo coach this year.
