Collette Sabins, Kalkaska teacher charged with assault and battery against student
Following an alleged incident between her and a student on March 8, a teacher at Kalkaska Middle School has been charged with assault and battery.
Collette Sabins was arrested when the principal summoned a deputy to come to the school the day following the alleged attack, according to an incident report from the Kalkaska County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the incident report, the deputy was given surveillance footage from the school that showed Sabins making a fist toward the student before grabbing them by the front of their collar and hauling them toward the office.
According to the incident report, Sabins was assisting the student with academics before to the alleged assault.
Sabins has taken a paid administrative leave of absence.
